MIOSHA is the state agency responsible for workplace safety in Michigan. It inspects workplaces, cites employers that break safety rules, and takes complaints from workers about conditions that are dangerous.
Raising a safety concern is protected. If you reported a hazard and then found your hours cut, your shift moved or your job gone, that is a separate complaint from the hazard itself, and it has its own short deadline.
A safety complaint is not a personal injury claim, and neither is a workers' compensation claim. They can all arise from the same accident and they run on different tracks with different deadlines.
MIOSHA enforces workplace safety rules. It does not award compensation for an injury, and its retaliation complaints have their own short deadline.
